The ICTC continues to follow the Governor’s Wolf’s mandate for school closures. According to the last update, all schools in the Commonwealth will remain closed indefinitely as a response to the COVID-19 mitigation efforts. ICTC has posted it’s Continuity of Education Plan in an effort to inform students and parents about our current plan of instruction.
The ICTC will continue to monitor this situation closely. We are working with sending school Districts, the ARIN IU28, post-secondary institutions and industry certification providers to assist us in offering meaningful educational opportunities to keep our students engaged in the educational process.
Every day, all across the United States, tractor-trailers are delivering the goods that power our nation. The freight industry continues to grow, with trucking companies predicted to experience high level growth over the next ten years. This makes the trucking industry a reliable area for job security, providing job opportunities everywhere in the country.
A career in trucking means a great profession designed to fit you. Looking for a conventional work schedule? Local trucking routes get you working and back home again every day. Regional truckers are on the road all week, but home again each weekend. Over the road truckers get to really live the trucking experience, seeing the entire nation and meeting new people along the way.
ICTC offers CDL training in partnership with PA Pride. In the CDL program you will learn basic control and several different driving techniques including: backing maneuvers, identifying road hazards, vehicle systems, diagnosing malfunctions, transporting cargo safely and performing commercial vehicle safety inspection. You will be engaged with classroom lectures, discussions, range and road experience, and maneuvers demonstrations. Some of the course topics include preventative maintenance and servicing, special situations, driving course, commercial driver’s license skills test prep, general knowledge of the vehicle, and proficiency development. These, along with the other course topics, will prepare you to receive your CDL license.
Students who complete the ICTC Commercial Driver’s License Training program will be qualified for the Class A CDL Licensure exam through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
