Electricians are essential in today’s illuminated world – and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of electricians is projected to grow 14 percent from 2014 to 2024. At ICTC, you’ll learn to install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications.
At the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC), students gain the necessary foundational skills to become residential and/or commercial electricians. The program focuses on the technical skills required to perform electrical installations.
ICTC’s Electrical Occupations program is endorsed by the Pennsylvania Builders Association! You’ll learn basic electrical theory for residential wiring, including 100 & 200 amp services and branch circuits, based on the National Electric Code (NEC). A modern residence blueprint serves as the basis for the wiring schematics and cable layouts, as you learn Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter and Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter NEC requirements, how to calculate conductor sizes and voltage drop, how to determine appliance circuit requirements, sizing service, grounding service and equipment.
The program also covers the basics of three-phase wiring for commercial environments. You will learn to apply the latest NEC for wiring a commercial building in a step-by-step process, and apply electrical standards to appliance circuits, branch-circuit installation, special systems, reading electrical and architectural drawings and calculating circuit loads for on-the-job assessments.
