Machining Technology

If you enjoy hands-on work and are something of a perfectionist, consider this growing field. The Machining Technology program at the Indiana County Technology Center provides students with the technological skills needed for entry in the metalworking occupations.

Program Description

ICTC’s Machining Technology program is one of 12 nationally recognized Tooling U Platinum Education Centers! It is also a fully accredited NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) training and certification site, allowing students to earn NIMS Level 1 machining credentials as part of the program.

You’ll learn to operate standard machining tools, such as drill presses, metal saws, lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, as well as have the opportunity to operate state-of-the-art equipment, such as a Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machine. You’ll also receive a solid foundation in related theory, including metal cutting applications, material properties, layout work, assembly of machinery, and more. The application of math and blueprint reading are also essential components of this program.
