AUTOMOTIVE CLUSTER
The Automotive Cluster at the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC) offers two specialized programs: Automotive Technology and Collision Repair Technology. Both programs provide students with the technical skills and hands-on experience needed to succeed in today’s rapidly changing automotive industry. The Automotive Technology program focuses on the repair and maintenance of modern vehicles, emphasizing computer diagnostics, fuel efficiency, and advanced electrical systems. The Collision Repair Technology program trains students in the art of vehicle body repair, including welding, frame repair, refinishing, and paint techniques. Both programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the growing automotive job market, where qualified professionals are in high demand across Pennsylvania.
The Automotive Technology program at ICTC prepares students for careers in one of the state’s most dynamic industries. The curriculum offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge vehicle technologies, including internal combustion engines, fuel injection systems, computer diagnostics, and electrical systems. Students are trained in state-of-the-art facilities that meet ASE standards, equipping them with the skills required to work on today’s high-tech vehicles. As the automotive industry evolves, students are taught to stay ahead of trends in hybrid and electric vehicle technology, which opens up career opportunities in a growing segment of the market. Graduates are well-positioned for roles in repair shops, dealerships, or specialized automotive service centers.
The Collision Repair Technology program provides students with comprehensive training in vehicle body repair and refinishing, preparing them for a rapidly growing sector within the automotive industry. Students gain hands-on experience in key areas such as MIG welding, frame repair, panel replacement, and automotive paint systems. ICTC’s program also offers the opportunity to earn certifications, such as the PPG Blue Level Industry Certification, which enhances graduates' employability. As vehicle repair becomes more technologically advanced, especially with new materials and designs in modern cars, graduates are equipped with the skills needed for a variety of roles in the collision repair industry, from body shop technicians to auto refinishing specialists. Both sectors offer strong earning potential and long-term career growth.
