Information Technology and Cybersecurity
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Information Technology and Cybersecurity program at ICTC equips students with the skills and hands-on experience needed to earn key industry certifications. Through this program, students can pursue CompTIA certifications such as Tech+, A+, Network+, and Security+, as well as Google certificates. The curriculum is designed to provide practical training and knowledge essential for certification and career advancement. Upon
completion, students will be well-prepared to enter the workforce or continue their education at a post-secondary institution.
Tech+
Tech+ certification is a credential that focuses on key areas such as computing, device management, security, and emerging technologies. This certification covers essential IT concepts and terminology, infrastructure setup, and the installation of common peripheral devices to laptops and PCs. It also includes wireless network configuration, an understanding of various software and operating systems, and emphasizes best practices for device security and confidentiality. Tech+ is designed to provide a strong technical foundation for those entering the IT field and pursuing the CompTIA A+ certification.
A+
A+ shows a person’s proficiency in computer hardware and software upgrades, installation and trouble-shooting skills. Topics include: PC Components, Introduction to Networking, Laptops and Portable Devices, Security, Operating Systems Safety and Environmental Issues, Printers and Scanners, Communication and Professionalism.
NETWORK+
Network+ shows a person’s proficiency with basic networking knowledge and skills. Topics include: Networking Fundamentals, Fault Tolerance and Disaster Planning, Internetworking Fundamentals, Recovery, TCP/IP Fundamentals, Troubleshooting and Network Operating Systems.
SECURITY+
Security+ certification introduces students to the fundamentals of cybersecurity. It covers topics like securing networks, identifying and responding to security threats, and understanding encryption and access control. This certification is ideal for students interested in a career in cybersecurity, providing them with the skills needed to protect systems and data from cyberattacks.
