Collaborating to Celebrate Careers in Construction Month

Seth Jordan, Nathan Miller, Tim Baker, and Robert Scott collaborate on a video production titled “I BUILT THIS” for submission to a national video contest.

This month, the ICTC, along with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) celebrates “Careers in Construction Month”. Careers in Construction month is a nationwide celebration that recognizes hard working men and women in the field. Careers in Construction month was founded by NCCER and its Build Your Future initiative, which aims to recruit young professionals into the high demand field of construction. Locally, the ICTC is celebrating by collaborating in a NCCER video contest called “I Built This!”

The Digital Media and Construction Programs at the ICTC joined forces this month to produce a brief video highlighting two construction students working on a common project –  a modular house.    Construction students, Tim Baker, a senior from United, and Nicole Aloise, a sophomore from Indiana, star in the brief video which highlights their job duties as a part of the house project.  From framing to finishing, the construction students work together under the direction of instructor Tim Bash to create a three bedroom house that will be donated upon completion.  The video was produced and edited by a Digital Media Technology team consisting of Nathan Miller (Penns Manor), Robert Scott (Homer Center), and Seth Jordan (Homer Center). The complete video can be viewed on the ICTC’s YouTube Channel. To learn more about careers in construction, visit the Build Your Future website at www.byf.org.
