Students who are caring, compassionate and possess critical thinking skills should consider Health Occupations Technology (HOT). Statistics from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry indicate that occupations in health care will continue to experience the highest growth rate.
First year students complete the Personal Care Assistant curriculum as well as medical terminology course work. Second year students complete Basic Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology while obtaining nursing skills for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, which offers the Personal Care Home and Direct Care Staff certifications. Third year students may have the opportunity to participate in Cooperative Education and may enroll in up to 9 college credits. Clinical experiences are thread throughout the second and third year. Throughout the Health Occupations curriculum, students will also obtain three American Heart Association certifications including Basic Life Support/CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
