ICTC SkillsUSA Kicks Off the School Year

ICTC SkillsUSA students prepare to attend the SkillsUSA Leadership Conference at Seven Springs.

The Indiana County Technology Center’s SkillsUSA Chapter is in full swing this school year with the election of officers and excitement for the upcoming Leadership Conference. The annual assignment of officers and selection of leadership representatives kicks off the new school year and new opportunities spawned from the SkillsUSA organization.

In September, SkillsUSA members at the ICTC elected officers for each session. The morning session officers include Michael McCracken (President), Isabella Hixson (Vice President), Felicity Regan (Secretary) and Kateri Johnston (Treasurer). In the PM, officers are Travis Platt (President), Spencer McKee (Vice President), Isabella Smith (Secretary) and Jacob Botteicher (Treasurer). These students were elected to represent the student body on behalf of the SkillsUSA organization. Officers will accompany other SkillsUSA Ambassadors to the District 8 Leadership Conference hosted in Seven Springs from November 1st through the 3rd. The conference is intended to support networking between peers from neighboring career and technical education facilities, educate students on leadership-focused content, and provide a teambuilding approach to support career and technical education as a whole. The Leadership Conference supports the main mission of the SkillsUSA organization, which is to work together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. ICTC’s SkillsUSA Chapter is advised by Ms. Sandra Zulick and Mr. James Gould.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that is filled with passionate students, staff and industry workers supporting the cause of Career and Technical Education. It teaches students to become world-class workers, leaders and citizens.
