SKILLS USA COMPETITION WINNERS 2017

On Monday, January 16, 2017 Indiana County Technology Center high school students competed in the Skills USA District 8 competition hosted by Forbes Road Career and Technology Center. Students from ten different career and technical centers participated in contests like nail care, medical terminology, and precision machining. The first place winners of each event will be traveling to Hershey, Pennsylvania to compete in April at the state level.

Skills USA is a National partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives who all come together to achieve the goal of ensuring bright futures for hardworking students. The organization improves America’s workforce through leadership, employability, citizenship, and technical and professional skills. More than 300,000 students and instructors across the nation are involved in Skills USA annually.

Twenty-four students placed in their events from the Indiana County Technology Center. There were 11 first place winners, six second place winners, and seven third place winners. Third place winners included Leslie Faidley for First Aid/CPR, Michael McCracken for Basic Healthcare, Brady Gallaher for Carpentry, and Austin Vogel, Levi Isenberg, Kyle Uptegraph, and Kristopher Fairman for Teamworks. Second place winners were Isabella Hixon for Nurse Assisting, Haley Hunter for Medical Terminology, Allison Wheatcroft for Job Demo A, Dean George for CNC Milling, Jonathan Stanford for Culinary Arts, and Logan Brett for Building Construction. First place winners included Nick Roberts for Sheet Metal, Zach Zombotti for Related Technical Math, Seth Roman for Precision Machining, Lauren Miller for Nail Care, Tessa Nelen for Medical math, T.J. Gaffey for Masonry, Troy Lewis for CNC Turning, James Anderson for Electrical Construction Wiring, Rachel Schwartz for Advertising Design, Brent Penrose for Internetworking, and Sasha Decker for Action Skills.
